The American Red Cross of Eastern Iowa chapter is pleased to announce Bill Heitman as its new executive director. Until recently, Heitman served as the executive director for the St. Luke’s Health System Foundation and Community Engagement in Boise, Idaho. Prior to that, he was a donor recruitment manager for the Red Cross in Arizona and Idaho. As a proud Iowa native, he is excited to bring his talents back to Eastern Iowa and the Red Cross.
"We are excited to welcome Bill back to both Eastern Iowa and the American Red Cross,” said Nate Stoll, Board Chair, American Red Cross of Eastern Iowa. “There are a lot of exciting initiatives that our board, staff and volunteers have been working on; and I believe Bill's experience and drive will help take our chapter to new heights."
Heitman brings experience with engaging volunteers and boards, fundraising, developing community partnerships and supporting special events. He is a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa; and he began his career in Iowa.
With the support of over 300 active volunteers, the American Red Cross of Eastern Iowa serves the communities of 22 Iowa counties, three Wisconsin counties and one Illinois county. Over the past year, the American Red Cross of Eastern Iowa has responded to over 200 disasters and collected nearly 23,000 units of blood and blood products. Heitman looks forward to working with the dedicated team of volunteers and staff who bring the mission of the Red Cross to Eastern Iowa every day.
“I’m so excited to be returning to the American Red Cross and Eastern Iowa,” said Heitman. “It will be an honor to work with a compassionate and generous group of volunteers, staff, donors and other key stakeholders. I hope to share the “joy of giving” the Red Cross can provide.”
